The German Federal government wants to increase immigration with a points system
Foreigners are to be allowed to immigrate to Germany under certain conditions, even if they do not yet have a job.
This is provided for in a key points paper that the federal government intends to adopt tomorrow (November 30, 2022). The goal is to alleviate the shortage of skilled workers. A points system is planned that will allow immigrants to acquire a so-called opportunity card.
Points are to be awarded for the applicant’s qualifications, language skills, work experience, connection to Germany and age, among other things.
The plans of Interior Minister Faeser for faster naturalization, on the other hand, remain controversial within the coalition.
FDP parliamentary group vice-chairman Kuhle said that first of all it must be agreed upon who should come into the country.
Only then could one talk about easier access to citizenship. The chairwoman of the economic experts, Schnitzer, has spoken out in favor of the planned reform, as has the Bundesverband mittelständische Wirtschaft.
